Pennsylvania American Water Completes Second Phase of Dimock Water Project; Begins Construction of Groundwater Treatment Facility

DIMOCK, Pa. - (Nov. 3, 2025) - Pennsylvania American Water announced today the successful installation of approximately six miles of new water main in Dimock Township, marking a key milestone in the multi-year project to develop a public groundwater supply and build a new drinking water system for residents.

"Completing the pipeline installation is a major step forward in delivering safe, reliable drinking water to Dimock residents," said Tony Nokovich, vice president of engineering at Pennsylvania American Water. "With this phase complete, we're now ready to begin construction of the advanced treatment facility."

Installation of new water service lines to connect homes to the newly installed pipeline is planned for spring 2026, with customer connections anticipated in the summer. As part of this process, all existing plumbing will be disconnected from individual wells to prevent cross-contamination.

Construction of a new groundwater treatment facility is scheduled to begin this week. The facility will feature a robust four-stage treatment process, resulting in finished water that meets U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection safe drinking water standards. The treatment facility is expected to be operational by summer 2026, with all construction activities anticipated to be completed by fall.

This project stems from a 2022 agreement negotiated between the Office of then-Attorney General Josh Shapiro and Coterra Energy, through which Pennsylvania American Water was selected to design, permit and construct a new public water system for Dimock. The system is designed to provide residents with reliable, clean and safe drinking water, who have long relied on private wells.

Importantly, the cost of the new water system is being fully underwritten by Coterra Energy, which helps provide a sustainable solution to the area's long-standing water quality concerns while ensuring that financial responsibility does not fall on the affected community or existing Pennsylvania American Water customers.
