METRO Regional Transit Authority - Statement on TWU Contract Approval

On Tuesday, September 29, METRO's Board of Trustees voted to accept the contract proposal reached with Transit Workers Union Local #1 (TWU), ensuring continued service for METRO's transit-loyal riders and bringing an end to the threat of a strike.

"METRO's first priority was to not expose our transit-loyal riders to the risk of missing life-essential trips. Throughout this process, our goal was to reach an agreement that was fair and reasonable for our team members, our riders, and the community we serve. Our METRO team and our riders will always be our focus, and ensuring continued service was the key objective throughout these negotiations," said CEO Dawn Distler.

METRO's Board of Trustees is confident that the agreement supports METRO's long-term operational goals by addressing absenteeism, a longstanding issue that can place significant strain on daily operations, while providing fair and reasonable compensation for team members.

METRO would like to thank its riders, team members, and community partners for their patience and support throughout the negotiation process. The agreement provides stability for both METRO employees and riders while allowing METRO to remain focused on its mission of delivering safe and reliable transportation services to the residents of Summit County.
