Medical Laboratory Professionals Week

By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:

Medical Laboratory Professionals Week

WHEREAS, Medical Laboratory Professionals Week provides an opportunity to honor the essential work of medical laboratory scientists; and

WHEREAS, medical laboratory scientists are internationally respected for their technical expertise, dedication to patient care, and commitment to scientific excellence; and

WHEREAS, thousands of laboratory professionals-including many serving in Virginia-strengthen the nation's healthcare system through diagnostic testing, infectious disease detection, transfusion medicine, molecular diagnostics, and public health preparedness; and

WHEREAS, laboratory professionals have played critical roles during public health emergencies, demonstrating resilience, compassion, and service; and

WHEREAS, the profession faces workforce shortages, making recognition and recruitment essential to sustaining high-quality laboratory medicine;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Abigail D. Spanberger, do hereby recognize April 12-18, 2026, as MEDICAL LABORATORY PROFESSIONALS WEEK in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens
