UNM programs ranked in latest U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges Rankings

The latest U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges Rankings, featuring a select group of programs at The University of New Mexico, were released today.

UNM's top ranking came with the School of Engineering, which was ranked in the top-100 at No. 96 for Undergraduate Engineering Programs among schools whose highest degree is a doctorate.

Overall, as an institution, UNM was ranked No. 136 in the Top Public Schools category and No. 242 out of 438 institutions in the National Universities category, which includes private schools.

Overall, UNM had five programs/schools ranked among the top-150 in the nation, including:

  • Undergraduate Engineering - Doctorate #96 (tied)
  • Undergraduate Psychology #113 (tied)
  • Undergraduate Computer Science #117 (tied)
  • Undergraduate Nursing #118 (tied)
  • Undergraduate Business #150 (tied)

The rankings are based on in-depth analyses of a wide variety of data points, as explained in the Best Colleges Undergraduate Programs Rankings Methodologies.

Statewide, UNM has the best national rankings among New Mexico universities, including the categories of best university, undergraduate nursing, top public school, undergraduate engineering (Doctorate), and business schools.

For the past 40 years, U.S. News & World Report has produced the Best Colleges ranking nearly 1,500 U.S. four-year bachelor's degree-granting institutions, grouped within 10 distinct overall rankings where colleges and universities were compared with schools that shared their academic mission. National Universities offer a range of undergraduate majors, plus master's and doctoral programs, and emphasize faculty research or award professional practice doctorates.
