Burbank, CA (July 22, 2026) - Beginning Tuesday, July 28, 2026, the City of Burbank will expand opportunities for public participation by allowing members of the public to provide live remote public comments during City Council meetings through the Zoom platform, in accordance with Senate Bill (SB) 707.
The new remote participation option allows residents who are unable to attend meetings in person to listen to the meeting and address the City Council during all public comment periods using a mobile device or telephone. Remote participation will be audio-only, and participants will not appear on screen during the meeting broadcast.
Ways to participate in City Council Meetings include:
The City Council's existing public comment procedures and time limits will remain unchanged. Speaker time limits will continue to be set at the beginning of each public comment session, including Closed Session, Study Session, General Public Comment, Reports to Council, and Public Hearings. Remote speakers who have joined the queue before a public comment period begins will be included in the total speaker count. Participants wishing to speak remotely must use Zoom's "Raise Hand" feature to join the queue.
Technical assistance for remote participation via Zoom will be available during meetings by calling (818) 238-5752. For additional information, residents may contact the City Clerk's Office at (818) 238-5851.
