Consultations between the foreign ministries of Belarus and Myanmar

On October 3, 2025 the second round of the political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar took place in Minsk.

The Belarusian side was headed by the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sergey Lukashevich, and the Myanmar side was headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ko Ko Kyaw.

The parties noted the active dynamics and high level of contacts serving as an important incentive for intensifying and expanding Belarusian-Myanmar ties.

The negotiations covered the entire spectrum of Belarusian-Myanmar relations, including development of political dialogue, increase in mutual trade, expansion of the legal framework, bilateral interaction within international organisations, cooperation with the EAEU, ASEAN, SCO and BRICS, and promotion of direct bilateral contacts in the fields of tourism, culture and other humanitarian areas. The parties exchanged views on a number of topical issues on the regional and global agenda.

The parties noted the existence of broad opportunities for intensifying relations between Belarus and Myanmar and outlined plans for cooperation in the near future.

The head of the Myanmar delegation was received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus, Maxim Ryzhenkov. At the meeting, the head of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry confirmed the Belarusian side's interest in developing comprehensive cooperation with Myanmar.
