  • Roughly a year-long closure of eastbound I-64/Route 40 between Vandeventer and Compton Avenue to remove and replace the eastbound interstate bridge there,
  • An updated interchange around eastbound I-64 at Grand, including a new roundabout that will serve Grand and Compton,
  • Rehabilitation of the westbound I-64 bridge between Compton and Boyle, and
  • Widening of the Compton Avenue bridge over I-64 for additional bicycle and pedestrian accommodations.

There will be no formal presentation and participants can attend anytime April 30 between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. For those who cannot attend the in-person open house, information is available on-line at Funded Interstate 64 Construction in St. Louis City | Missouri Department of Transportation the day of the meeting.

This work is part of the recommendations made from a recent study of the I-64 central corridor in the city of St. Louis called: Future64: Community. Transportation. Together. Insight from the community has been and continues to be an important element in this project, helping ensure that a wide range and variety of voices are heard, and that safety for all users is the focus of the recommended concept. Public participation in this meeting continues to drive the plans of making the Future 64 vision a reality. The information shared by the stakeholders, residents and other users of the corridor have helped determine work along the corridor and how soon improvements should be built.

Future64 looked at the potential impact future projects will have on the environment, community, and connectivity in the area. This study helped MoDOT ensure that any transportation improvements within the corridor will be of great benefit to people using it.

MoDOT completed the study in conjunction with the City of St. Louis, East-West Gateway Council of Governments, Bi-State Development, and several community partners. Although, many improvements in the study impacts MoDOT-maintained roadways, it also includes suggested improvements to other transportation systems maintained by other partners, and the department will partner with those agencies to fund and schedule those improvements.
