March 10, 2026 - ROCHESTER, MINN. - The Public Works Department will be available to answer project questions and provide information on project staging for the upcoming reconstruction of Superior Drive NW from 19 Street NW to Valleyhigh Road NW and 26 Street NW from Superior Drive NW to West Circle Drive NW.
Superior Drive NW, built in the early 2000s, is scheduled for pavement maintenance, and during planning identified several areas with "tenting," a drainage-related issue that creates a bumpy roadway surface. Because a standard mill and overlay would not resolve these underlying drainage problems, a portion of the corridor will be reconstructed to improve drainage while keeping the existing curb, gutter, and sidewalk, with spot repairs as needed. The project also includes pedestrian safety upgrades at the 26 Street NW and 28 Street NW intersections and near Badger Ridge Park, adding new curb ramps and curb extensions to shorten crossing distances and calm traffic. Roadway segments not affected by tenting (from 19 Street NW to Valleyhigh Road and 28 Street NW from Superior Drive NW to West Circle Drive NW) will still receive a mill and overlay as originally planned.
