Official newsletter of Santa Ana Mayor Valerie Amezcua.
Keeping the community informed about local events, City news, and resources.
Dear Neighbors,
I am excited to share that I have returned to City Hall as of April 1, 2026. In early February, I underwent a full knee replacement and have been working hard in physical therapy since then. While the recovery process has been challenging at times, I am healing well and grateful to be on the mend.
I also want to sincerely thank our community for the incredible outpouring of support. The flowers, treats, and prayers you shared meant so much to me and truly lifted my spirits.
As I return, I am looking forward to reconnecting with all of you and continuing the important work ahead. We have many exciting projects and City events underway, and more information will be shared soon. If you have submitted a request to meet or invited me to an event, thank you for your patience. I am eager to be back out in our beautiful Santa Ana.
I would also like to invite you to join me for my next Coffee with the Mayor, held in conjunction with the Festival del Niño Resource Fair in partnership with Mosaic Movement. The event will take place on Saturday, April 18, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at George Upton All Access Park. I hope to see you there.
In the meantime, please take a moment to review some of our upcoming events and share them with your friends and neighbors. There is something for everyone.
Warm regards,
Mayor Valerie Amezcua

The second annual Sister Cities Santa Ana & Sahuayo Business Expo was a success! Thank you to all that came out to support our sister city.
Chepa's Park in Logan Barrio neighborhood has played a key part of the Mexican-American history in Santa Ana. On March 30, 2026, Congressman Lou Correa presented a $2 million dollar check that our City will use for renovations and upgrades to the historic park. Specifically, this funding will be used to demolish and reconstruct a new community center and other improvements such as: a new basketball court, new landscaping, picnic areas, site lighting, new playground equipment and accessible walkways. Thank you to Congressman Lou Correa for these earmark dollars.
I had the privilege of visiting Ryan's Reach, a home that is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that provides a safe home environment with all the services and support needed to aid brain-injured individuals and their families. I was impressed and touched with the environment and services that Ryan's Reach has created in caring for their clients.

The Santa Ana City Council recently approved new regulations for smoke shops to protect public health and neighborhood safety. The rules require new smoke shops to obtain a Conditional Use Permit, limit where they can open, and establish distance requirements from schools, parks, childcare facilities, residential areas, and other smoke shops. The ordinance also sets operating standards and annual inspections to support enforcement. City officials say the changes respond to the growing number of smoke shops and aim to reduce youth exposure while maintaining balanced business opportunities.
