Dear Compatriots,
I congratulate you on Republic Day, May 28.
On this day in 1918, the Armenian people, overcoming the devastating consequences of war, genocide, and the loss of statehood, restored their independent state. Established after centuries without sovereignty, the First Republic of Armenia was not only a political reality but also a revival of national will, identity, and faith in the future.
The founding of the First Republic took place under exceptionally difficult circumstances. Despite existential threats and enormous human and material losses, our people succeeded in establishing a system of state governance, a national army, diplomatic relations, and an international presence.
Although the First Republic existed for only two years, its historical significance is far greater and deeper. It became the foundation for the revival of Armenian statehood and the clearest proof of our people's enduring determination to live independently.
May 28 is one of the milestones in our history that reminds us that statehood is not merely a historical inheritance. It is a daily responsibility that requires political maturity, national consciousness, and public solidarity.
Today, Armenia continues to face complex and decisive challenges. Strengthening our sovereignty, ensuring the stable development of state institutions, and building a secure future require collective responsibility and a sense of statehood. Our historical experience demonstrates that the Armenian people have overcome the most difficult trials when guided by unity, mutual respect, and national solidarity.
The upcoming parliamentary elections will be an important test of our democracy, the stability of our state system, and our public maturity. They must serve as another affirmation of free expression of the people's will, the rule of law, and the strengthening of political culture. The strength of a democratic state begins with the responsible participation of its citizens and the preservation of public trust.
This day reminds us once again that independence and statehood are not permanent achievements, but a continuous commitment to preserve, strengthen, and pass them on to future generations.
I wish that through solidarity, responsibility, and a sense of statehood, we will overcome all the challenges before us and build a secure, peaceful, and dignified future.
Happy Republic Day, Armenia!
