The Center on Alcohol, Substance Use, and Addictions (CASAA) hosts its annual research day on Friday, Nov. 6, as part of The University of New Mexico's Research and Discovery Week.
Keynote speakers are Research Associate Professors Matison McCool and Kamilla Venner, and two members of the CASAA Advisory Board. Each talk will be followed by a discussion with the speakers about how the center can conduct research that advances the field of addiction science.
In addition, CASAA researchers and affiliates will present posters showcasing their research. CASAA Research Day will also include a presentation from and discussion with early career researchers about their ongoing research projects and the ways CASAA and the field can support trainees.
"CASAA Research day is a great opportunity for the community to learn about some of the groundbreaking research in the field of addiction science happening at UNM from researchers at every career stage. It also gives us at CASAA the chance to connect with folks in Albuquerque and New Mexico more broadly to learn more about the concerns and needs of the community in the areas of addiction and treatment," said Kalina Fahey, clinical research associate with CASAA and co-organizer of the event.
There is no cost to attend CASAA Research Day, however, registration is required to ensure enough food and space for everyone. Refreshments will be provided. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
