Piedmont Rd SB Lane Shifts Between Lenox Rd and Peachtree Rd Installed this Weekend
METRO ATLANTA - Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) maintenance crews will install a long term traffic shift on a portion of SR 237/Piedmont Rd in the Lenox area, City of Atlanta this weekend. This shift will reduce the travel lanes to two in each direction.
Weather and on-site conditions permitting, beginning 9 p.m. on Friday, August 15 for approximately 90 days, traffic on southbound Piedmont Road between Lenox Road NE and Peachtree Road NE will be shifted left to allow crews to work in the far right lane. Signage will advise motorists approaching the area of the lane shift in advance. This shift will reduce the travel lanes to two northbound and two southbound.
This traffic shift is related to the SR 237/Piedmont Road from SR 141 Conn/Lenox Road to SR 141/Peachtree Road Widening Project. When complete, the project will construct an additional travel lane in each direction on Piedmont Road, add bike lanes and upgrade pedestrian crossings. The project is scheduled for completion in late 2026 at a cost of $11.6M.
As always, motorists traveling in the area are reminded to reduce their speeds in the work zone. Drivers are also advised to wear seatbelts, eliminate distractions behind the wheel - put your phone down, and plan routes before getting on the road by calling 511, visit 511ga.org or download the 511GA app for Apple or Android for real-time information on work status and traffic conditions.
