This October, the Fullerton Firefighters Association (FFA) and the Fullerton Fire Department (FFD) are proud to "turn pink" in honor of Cancer Awareness Month. From October 1-31, 2025, the community is invited to join in by purchasing exclusive Pinktober merchandise, with proceeds benefiting the Providence St. Jude Memorial Foundation in support of the Crosson Cancer Institute at Providence St. Jude Medical Center. Pinktober merchandise is more than just apparel, it's a way to stand with survivors, honor loved ones, and support vital cancer care and research.
Adding to the campaign, one of FFD's in-service engines has been wrapped in pink, made possible through the generous support of the Fullerton EBELL Club. Lookout for this special engine throughout the community, serving as a rolling reminder of the fight against cancer.
Cancer is a battle that uniquely impacts the firefighting community. Research from the CDC and NIOSH shows that firefighters face a 9% higher risk of being diagnosed with cancer and a 14% higher risk of dying from cancer compared to the general U.S. population.
In addition to Pinktober, the FFA raises awareness and funds through its annual Golf Tournament, Fill the Boot event, and Stair Climb, all benefiting Providence St. Jude. Please keep a lookout for these events on the City's social media accounts and here on our website!
