Saint Francis University will host a public panel discussion examining Pope Leo XIV's Magnifica Humanitas and its implications for safeguarding human dignity in an increasingly technology-driven world.
The event, titled "A Panel Discussion on Pope Leo XIV's Magnifica Humanitas: Examining What It Means to Safeguard the Human Person in the Time of AI," will be held Tuesday, July 21, at 6 p.m. at the Curry Innovation Center, 1425 11th Ave., Altoona.
Admission is free, though registration is requested. Following the discussion, attendees are invited to continue the conversation during an informal gathering at Levity Brewing Co., located near the Curry Innovation Center.
The discussion will bring together faculty and university leaders from Saint Francis University, representing expertise in cybersecurity, computer science, theology, pastoral ministry, and higher education leadership. Panelists will explore the challenges and opportunities presented by artificial intelligence through the lens of Catholic social thought and Pope Leo XIV's call to uphold the dignity of every person.
As AI technologies continue to transform education, work, communication, and daily life, the panel will consider how faith traditions and ethical reflection can help guide society toward a future that promotes human flourishing while protecting the inherent worth of every individual.
