WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) cosponsored a bill with colleagues on both sides of the aisle to support and better manage public lands across the country. The bipartisan America the Beautiful Act would reauthorize the Legacy Restoration Fund (LRF) and increase its funding to address serious maintenance backlog across our public lands and national parks, ensuring that America's outdoor spaces can be enjoyed for generations to come.
"In Nevada, we're lucky to be surrounded by beautiful public lands that Nevadans enjoy for outdoor recreation and that are central to our outdoor tourism economy," said Senator Rosen. "I'm proud to have worked across party lines to support this bill to increase funding for our national parks and make sure they're accessible to everyone. I'll always fight to deliver funding for Nevada's great outdoors."
As the Senator from the state with the highest percentage of public land in America, Senator Rosen has worked tirelessly to improve access to and protection of Nevada's public lands. She introduced the Truckee Meadows Public Lands Management Act, also known as the Washoe County Lands Bill, to expand economic development opportunities and make more land available for housing in Washoe County, support local Tribal communities, increase access to outdoor recreation, and protect public lands. Senator Rosen is also a strong supporter of the Land and Water Conservation Fund, securing resources for Nevada's parks and boosting Nevada's outdoors and local tourism economies by delivering nearly $300,000 for facility and accessibility improvements at Harvey Sports Park in Tonopah, and more than $600,000 for campsite improvements at the Wild Horse State Recreation Area in Elko.
