Why did you choose W&L Law?

I chose W&L for the tight-knit community and strong alumni network. I knew I wanted to go to a school where I didn't feel like I was just one of many, but where I could easily access my professors and engage with my classmates in authentic ways. W&L is perfect for people who seek an immersive law school experience because of our small class sizes and caring faculty. W&L is absolutely the best choice I could have made for my law school education.

What has been your most impactful experience at W&L, either on or off-campus?

My most meaningful experience at W&L has been my involvement with The Community Table (TCT), an off-campus organization here in Lexington. I believe that attorneys and law students have a responsibility to engage with their community, and TCT is a wonderful opportunity to do just that. The goal of TCT is straightforward: creating a sense of belonging through shared meals. My time with TCT has brought that idea to life. It has shown me how a shared meal can foster connection, understanding, and community resilience.

Share an experience, class, professor/staff member that has had an impact on your time as a law student.

It's hard to narrow it down, but a few come to mind. Professor Clarke, who taught me Evidence, has been a role model and inspiration. Professor Munro, who taught my Trial Advocacy section, has been an incredible mentor and is also a professor that inspires me. I've learned so much from them both, not just about law, but about professionalism, preparation, and what it is like to actually practice in the world.

What has been your greatest accomplishment since arriving at W&L?
Participating in the Black Lung Clinic has been my greatest accomplishment. Our clients in the Clinic are among the hardest working people I have ever met. Many of them spent their lives working in our nation's coal mines and now face serious health consequences. Serving these clients has been an incredibly valuable and humbling experience. It's been a true honor.

Who or what inspires you?
I am inspired by my great-grandmother, María Elena, who dedicated her life to healthcare education in rural Texas. Her work established healthcare resources and created a strong partnership between Juarez and El Paso to give people the critical care they needed. She was inducted into the Texas Women's Hall of Fame for her service to her state and now is still honored yearly through a scholarship in her name. She is my inspiration because of her dedication to community, trailblazing work, and grace under pressure.

Anything you are looking forward to this year and post-graduation?

I'm looking forward to enjoying my last months in Lexington with my friends and beginning my clerkship next year!
