Today, Congresswoman Deborah Ross (NC-02) voted against House Republicans' partisan continuing resolution:
"For months, Trump and Congressional Republicans have taken a chainsaw to the services that North Carolina relies on, including FEMA, the VA, Medicaid, and SNAP. Now, they are refusing to work with Democrats on bipartisan legislation to fund the federal government.
"Let's be clear - I would enthusiastically support a bipartisan funding bill that improves the health, safety, and economic well-being of working Americans. However, I will not support partisan Republican legislation that fails to address our country's looming healthcare crisis. Unless Congress acts soon, changes included in Trump's Big Ugly Bill will take effect, causing premiums to immediately spike for millions of North Carolinians.
"If the government shuts down, Republicans control all branches of government and will only have themselves to blame. As always, Democrats are ready and willing to work on bipartisan funding bills to fund critical services and spare North Carolina families from the cruel consequences of the GOP's healthcare cuts."
