Young people in Slovenia increasingly willing to participate in decisions about their future

Today, Slovenian youth are among the most politically active young people in the European Union, particularly on social media. They care about the kind of country they will live in.

The elections have also shown that young people are not merely observers of political developments. They can recognise when the time for change has come, and are prepared to make their voices heard. In Slovenia, the voice of young people was one of the important drivers of political change. This proves that this generation can influence the direction the country takes.

More and more young people are aware of what it means to have a sense of belonging to their own country. To be Slovenian, to love your homeland, to know the history, language and culture of your country, and to want Slovenia to be successful, safe and free.

Those who know who they are and where they come from can step confidently into Europe and the world. Great opportunities, as well as great challenges, lie ahead of your generation. All young people are invited to get involved, and this Government is committed to giving greater priority to youth issues. Slovenia needs your energy, skills, courage and ideas.

A nation whose young people believe in their future and are willing to help shape it has a future.
