A landmark national gathering is bringing together women farmers to honor the vital role they play in agriculture. Chad Smith has details on the event.

Smith: 2026 is being celebrated as the International Year of the Woman Farmer and in recognition of the year, Farm Bureau and industry partners are hosting the ACE Summit, June 1-3, in Washington, D.C. Isabella Chism, chair of the AFBF Women's Leadership Committee, says the summit has three goals: advocate, cultivate and empower.
Chism: The ACE Summit is our premiere gathering for agricultural leaders. We learn to advocate for agriculture, cultivate relationships with each other, representatives, and industry leaders, and go home empowered to empower others. We design it to sharpen our leadership skills and amplify the voice of agriculture.
Smith: While the ACE Summit is held every two years, this year's edition will highlight the international role women play in agriculture.
Chism: We're determined to elevate and reveal that invisible backbone of global agriculture, in order for all of us to feel more united, to work together, and support each other throughout our endeavors and the conference itself.
Smith: She said the summit is open to all women farmers, regardless of Farm Bureau membership.
Chism: Because the challenges of farming, whether it's the market volatility, transitioning to the next generation, or just the mental fatigue of every day trying to figure out what to do next, doesn't really care about our membership status in any one organization. We're building an infrastructure for the next 50 years of success for all of us, globally.
