Everytown Responds to Mass Shooting at Brown University

PROVIDENCE - Everytown for Gun Safety released the following statements in response to a shooting at Brown University. While details are still unfolding, authorities report that multiple people have been shot, at least two fatally.

"Students on college campuses should be preparing for final exams and winter break - not enduring yet another all too familiar tragedy caused by gun violence," said John Feinblatt, president of Everytown for Gun Safety. "While we await details, one thing is clear: today's shooting at Brown University is another unacceptable reminder of our nation's gun violence crisis. We either take action, or we bury more of our kids."

"Our hearts are breaking for the Brown University community as they grapple with yet another deadly school shooting in America, " said Angela Ferrell-Zabala, executive director of Moms Demand Action. "No student should ever receive an alert telling them to run, hide, and fight just to survive on campus. This is not normal, it is not acceptable, and our students deserve action that ends gun violence - not instructions on how to endure a tragedy that never should have happened."
