Singapore and Indonesian Navies Conclude Exercise Joint Minex Pandu

The Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) and the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL) concluded Exercise Joint Minex Pandu today. Held in Singapore and the waters off Bintan from 25 March to 1 April 2026, the bilateral mine-countermeasure (MCM) and clearance diving exercise enhanced the two navies' abilities to counter underwater threats.

This year's exercise saw the participation of more than 240 personnel from the RSN and the TNI AL. The RSN participated with two Bedok-class Mine Countermeasure Vessels (MCMVs), RSS Bedok and RSS Punggol, and personnel from the Naval Diving Unit. The TNI AL participated with one Pulau Fani-class minehunter KRI Pulau Fani, one Pulau Rote-class minesweeper KRI Pulau Rangsang, and a dive team. The exercise featured professional exchanges on mine-hunting, clearance diving techniques and ship-boarding, as well as coordinated MCM operations against simulated mine threats, diving operations, and live gunnery firing. A highlight of the exchange was the sea-rider programme, where TNI AL personnel observed K-STER C firing aboard RSS Punggol, and RSN personnel witnessed a plastic explosive firing aboard KRI Pulau Fani.

Commander of Sea Security Task Force, First Fleet Command TNI AL First Admiral Dedi Komarudin and Deputy Commander Maritime Security Task Force RSN, Colonel (COL) Bertram Ang, co-officiated the opening ceremony at RSS Singapura - Changi Naval Base on 25 March 2026. In his opening remarks, COL Ang said, "The RSN and TNI AL share a long-standing and close relationship, which is underpinned by regular professional exchanges, exercises and visits. The exercise reflects the commitment of both navies to strengthen cooperation, and enhance interoperability in mine countermeasure, maritime counter-terrorism, and diving operations."

The RSN and TNI AL conduct regular leadership and professional exchanges, exercises and visits, and collaborate through the Coordinated Patrol Indonesia-Singapore (CORPAT INDOSIN). The RSN's other bilateral exercise with the TNI AL, Exercise Eagle Indopura, is the Singapore Armed Forces' longest-running bilateral exercise with a foreign military. These activities underscore the close and longstanding defence relationship between Singapore and Indonesia.
