Rep. Dave Min Honors the 123rd Korean American Day and the Enduring Contributions of Korean Americans

Washington, D.C-Today, Representative Dave Min celebrates the 123rd anniversary of the arrival of the first Korean immigrants to the United States on January 13, 1903.

"As the 6th Korean American to serve in Congress, I am proud to honor the extraordinary contributions of our community and to celebrate 123 years since the first Korean immigrants came to America. The Korean American story is the American story, rooted in resilience, opportunity, and the belief that each generation can build something better for the next. Korean American culture has expanded in ways that were unimaginable just a generation ago-today is a celebration of that progress, and a recognition of the pride we share in how impactful the community we built together has become," said Representative Min.

While celebrating this progress, Representative Min emphasized that the American Dream that brought Korean immigrants to the United States must be actively protected and reaffirmed his commitment to civic engagement as essential to safeguarding that promise.

"The promise of opportunity, fair treatment, and dignity that drew our families here cannot be taken for granted. Policies affecting small businesses, workers, immigrants, and families have real consequences for our communities and our children's futures. Korean American Day is not only about honoring our past, but it is about claiming our future. Civic participation is how we honor those who came before us and ensure opportunity for generations to come," said Rep. Min.

From 1903 to today, Korean Americans have helped shape the nation's economic, cultural, and civic life. Representative Min cosponsors a bipartisan resolution celebrating January 13 as Korean American Day, building on a longstanding record of advancing policies that support and uplift the Korean American community both in Congress and during his service in the California State Senate, which included authoring legislation to make January 13th Korean American Day in California.
