Gas prices dropped over the last week by as much as a penny a day in Southern California, according to the Auto Club's Weekend Gas Watch. The average price for self-serve regular gasoline in California is $4.60, which is four cents lower than last week and two cents lower than a year ago today. The average national price is $3.07, which is two cents higher than a week ago and eight cents lower than on this date last year.
The average price of self-serve regular gasoline in the Los Angeles-Long Beach area is $4.64 per gallon, which is down five cents from last week and eight cents more than last year. In San Diego, the average price is $4.71, which is five cents lower than last week and eight cents higher than the price this time last year.
On the Central Coast, the average price is $4.57, which is seven cents lower than last week and five cents lower than last year. In Riverside, the average per-gallon price is $4.54, which is five cents lower than last week and 12 cents higher than a year ago. In Bakersfield, the $4.56 average price is three cents lower than last week and one cent higher than a year ago today.
"Oil Price Information Service and the California Energy Commission reported on Wednesday that California refinery production and gasoline inventory have risen in the past week, helping to put downward pressure on gas prices," said Auto Club spokesperson Doug Shupe.
