Colfax Detour in Place for Eastbound I-70 Access

The eastbound traffic on East Colfax Avenue that normally can merge directly onto eastbound Interstate 70 is being rerouted via a short detour through late November as part of the I-70 PicadillyInterchange project.

Traffic is being diverted south to follow the new PicadillyRoad, 13th Avenue, the old PicadillyRoad and then back onto the I-70 Frontage Road. Drivers should turn north at E-470 to re-enter eastbound I-70. Expect delays and use alternate routes if possible.

A short stretch of the I-70 Frontage Road between the new PicadillyRoad and old PicadillyRoad also is closed. Westbound traffic on that frontage road will follow the same detour in reverse to connect with westbound Colfax.

This detour is in place while crews complete work on the new diverging diamond interchange and transition traffic into its new, final alignment.

Please follow posted detour signs for alternate access. Construction activities are weather dependent and subject to change, which may impact the closure schedule and duration. Use caution and be patient when driving through the work zone-traffic backups and travel delays are expected. Follow posted speed limits and allow extra time to reach your destination.

The city of Aurora and its contractor, Lawrence Construction Co., are approaching substantial completion of the I-70 PicadillyInterchange project. To learn more about the project and sign up for weekly updates, please visit AuroraGov.org/I70Picadilly.
