Whip Clark Statement on the 53rd Anniversary of Roe v. Wade

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, Democratic Whip Katherine Clark (MA-5) released the following statement:

"For nearly half a century, Roe v. Wade affirmed a woman's fundamental right to control her own body and future. It was a critical step in America's march toward true liberty and justice for all.

"Tragically, Republicans have overturned that progress and continue to attack women's health care at every turn. Rural hospitals and community health centers are closing down. Forty-one states have an abortion ban in place. Doctors have been forced to choose between providing essential care or facing jail time.

"Donald Trump and the GOP have made their goal clear: they want our daughters to have fewer freedoms than generations past. But Democrats refuse to allow that grim vision to become a reality.

"Today, and always, we remain committed to fighting for reproductive freedom. We are determined to restore the protections of Roe and deliver the full access to health care that all women deserve."
