DENVER - Today, Governor Angelique Tolbert spent the day at the State Capitol learning how state government works for Coloradans, leading meetings with agency leadership, signing a proclamation, and celebrating Colorado's 150th birthday in Auraria.
"Being Governor for a Day taught me that good leaders listen, and how much state government can impact Coloradans' lives. I'm walking away from my day as Governor at the State Capitol with a new perspective on state government and leadership. I got to learn so much today about the different issues Coloradans face and I even got to see the stained glass windows of the Capitol. This experience was unlike any other and I'm so thankful that Governor Polis chose me to join him as Governor for a Day," said Governor Angelique Tolbert.
"Governor Angelique spent the day learning how the state government delivers for Coloradans - from expanding access to our parks to helping our youngest Coloradans learn. She asked sharp questions, listened closely and kept my team on our toes. Angelique took on the job with confidence and I am glad she got to join me today to see what it's like to be Governor of Colorado," said Governor Jared Polis.
Governor Tolbert kicked off her day as governor by joining her first cabinet meeting and then met with Colorado Parks and Wildlife staff to learn about wildlife and Colorado State Parks.
Later in the day, she learned about child care access and universal preschool in a meeting with the Colorado Department of Early Childhood. Governor Tolbert was also briefed by members of the Governor's executive team.

She then met with Coloradans in Auraria to celebrate Colorado's 150th birthday. Governor Tolbert capped the day with a tour of the State Capitol, where she got an exclusive look at the dome and heard about the storied history of Colorado.
