2025 Year in Review: Denver Technology Services

Published on January 14, 2026

As Denver continues to establish itself as a leader in innovation, 2025 marked a transformative year for Denver Technology Services (TS).

"This year, Denver didn't just participate in the technological revolution, we led it," said Suma Nallapati, Denver's Chief AI and Information Officer. "By hosting the second DenAI Summit and automating over 50k hours of manual work, we've proven that responsible AI isn't a future concept, it is a current tool for public good. Our focus is on innovating with purpose, ensuring every digital advancement translates into a more accessible, efficient, and equitable city for our residents."

Pioneering the Future of AI

The second annual DenAI Summit solidified Denver's position as a leader in responsible technology. As the first major city-led AI convening, we welcomed over 500 attendees to discuss the ethical deployment of AI in the public sector.

In 2025, TS' Automation Program delivered tangible results, automating 291 processes and resulting in:

  • Over $2.3 million in cost savings
  • 52,000+ hours of work reclaimed for high-value tasks

Operational Excellence & Infrastructure

Behind every city service is a robust technical foundation. This year, TS modernized the city's "backbone" to ensure reliability and security.

  • Infrastructure Modernization: Installed 46 new data center assets and decommissioned 33 aging systems as well as upgraded or decommissioned over 200 legacy virtual servers
  • Public Safety Support: Updated radio programming for over 2,000 Denver Police Department radios and replaced 450+ cameras as part of the camera lifecycle program
  • Technology Support: The TS Service Desk team assisted 9,100 employees across 31,000 calls, keeping the city's workforce connected and productive

Digital Experience & Civic Engagement

Denver's digital footprint grew exponentially in 2025. From award-winning video content to real-time data visualizations, TS met residents where they are.

  • Denvergov.org: 32 million page views
  • Social Media: 14 million impressions
  • The Denver Local Newsletter: 13,000+ subscribers (53.77% open rate)
  • 311 Requests: ~300,000 calls received

  • Denver Community Media: 161 active members, 200+ classes/workshops offered
  • Denver 8 TV Video Content: 8.9 million impressions

The Denver 8 TV team had a record-breaking year, covering everything from City Council to 230 Red Rocks events, resulting in a 198% increase in engagements.

Project Highlights & Smart City Initiatives

With 20 major project completions and 82 go-lives, TS continues to streamline how Denver does business.

  • Permitting & Licensing Modernization: Launched eight new e-permit records and initiated an RFP for an AI-guided permitting tool to streamline the permitting process
  • Smart IVR: Allows callers to tell the automated system exactly what they need help with (in their preferred language) and connect them to the right information or department
  • Data-Driven Decisions: Led efforts for the Bloomberg City Data Alliance and launched a citywide contact center dashboard for a unified customer experience
  • GIS Innovation: Developed and supported map applications to enhance 911 response times, downtown investments, the All In Mile High program, and more

Awards & Recognition

TS' commitment to excellence did not go unnoticed. In 2025, the city received multiple prestigious national awards for innovation in:

  • Smart City Initiatives
  • Pioneering AI Adoption
  • Overall Digital Experience

Thank you to the dedicated Technology Services team and the residents of Denver for a year of historic progress.
