Trump Stops in Ohio and Kentucky to Sell His Failing Economy and Disastrous Health Care Plans Arrow

Donald Trump traveled to Ohio and Kentucky today to try to sell his failing agenda that has driven prices up and done nothing to lower health care costs for everyday Americans. While Trump brags about his sham TrumpRx "deals," which have failed to meaningfully bring down drug costs, and touts his so-called "Great Healthcare Plan," Trump and Republicans have gutted Americans' health care and hiked prices on everyday necessities like gas, groceries, and rent.

In response, DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement:

"Today, Donald Trump desperately attempted to sell his failing agenda against the backdrop of his reckless and illegal war with Iran that has killed seven service members. Instead of working to improve the economy and lower costs, Americans can see that Trump is only interested in himself and the billionaires he surrounds himself with. As good-paying jobs become harder to find, gas and health care prices soar, and families dip into savings just to cover their bills, it's clear Trump has abandoned working families in pursuit of his own ego."

Americans are facing skyrocketing health care costs. First, Trump and Republicans slashed $1 trillion from Medicaid, putting over 300 rural hospitals at risk of shuttering. Then, they refused to extend the enhanced Affordable Care Act premium tax credits, doubling health care premiums on average for more than 20 million Americans. In September, 16 major drug companies made deals with TrumpRx, but major drug companies, including ALL of the 16 that made deals, have raised prices on 872 brand-name drugs.

Meanwhile, Trump's war of choice with Iran cost an estimated $11.3 billion in the first week - almost (85%) the total cost of extending the ACA premium tax credits this year. To make matters worse, since Trump's war in Iran began, oil prices spiked to nearly $120 per barrel, and according to AAA, the price of a gallon of gasoline has risen to $3.58 nationwide - the highest ever under Trump.
