WASHINGTON - Senator John Hoeven, a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, issued the following statement after the Senate advanced a short-term continuing resolution (CR) to reopen and fund the government through January 30. In addition to opening the government, the agreement includes three of the twelve full-year appropriations bills, including the Agriculture Appropriations bill. As Chairman of the Senate Agriculture Appropriations Committee, Hoeven helped to negotiate the package, which cleared a key procedural hurdle today and is now advancing in the Senate.
"We worked to negotiate a path forward to reopen the government with a short-term CR through January 30 and passage of three of the full-year appropriations bills. These three bills, including the Agriculture Appropriations bill, will help get us back to regular order. This shutdown has gone on for far too long. Let's get this CR approved so we can get back to the work of the people, and pass the remaining appropriations bills to fund our priorities while finding savings."
