City of Mission Viejo earns Fire Risk Reduction Community Recognition

The City of Mission Viejo has been officially recognized by the State of California, Board of Forestry and Fire Protection as a Fire Risk Reduction Community - recognizing the City's ongoing commitment to wildfire preparedness, public safety, and community resilience.

This designation reflects Mission Viejo's proactive efforts to reduce wildfire risk through planning, public education, emergency preparedness, and collaboration with regional and state fire agencies.

The Fire Risk Reduction Community certification also provides important benefits for the community. Homeowners may find that some insurance companies consider a community's wildfire mitigation efforts when evaluating coverage and premiums, and the designation could help support those discussions with insurance providers.
