Today, Democrats on the House Oversight Committee released never-before-seen emails between convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein and his convicted accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell in which Epstein wrote that Donald Trump - the "dog that hasn't barked" - "spent hours at my house" with one of Epstein's victims and "of course," "knew about the girls." The newly released emails suggest Trump was lying when he denied knowing about Epstein's heinous crimes and told Americans that he "had no idea."
In response, DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement:
"Well, there it is: Despite Donald Trump's denials, it's clear from these emails that Trump knew his close friend Jeffrey Epstein was a pedophile and a predator - and that Trump himself spent hours at Epstein's house with one of his victims. The White House's failed attempt to hide the truth from the American people has been one of the greatest cover-ups in American history, but the jig is up. Trump is lying about his relationship with Epstein, and his Department of Justice withheld information about Epstein's crimes. So the question is, why is Trump protecting a convicted sex offender instead of pursuing justice for the victims of Epstein's crimes - and why does he keep lying to the American people?"
Trump's White House and his loyalists in Congress have done nothing but try to deceive the American people and deny justice, accountability, and transparency to the victims of Epstein's crimes. That includes Speaker Mike Johnson refusing for 50 DAYS to swear in Rep.-Elect Adelita Grijalva, who promised to be the tie-breaking vote to release the Epstein Files. Johnson has FINALLY agreed to swear in Grijalva today.
The news today comes after new reporting that Ghislaine Maxwell has received star treatment in prison after the Trump administration transferred her to a better facility and that she is preparing to ask Trump for a commutation of her sentence.
