SCO Secretariat participates in the Women's Forum 'Voice of SCO Women: From Society to the International Arena'

On June 8, 2026, the Women's Forum "Voice of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Women: From Society to the International Arena" was held in Tashkent, organized by the SCO Center for People's Diplomacy in Uzbekistan. The event is aimed at developing women's leadership and deepening humanitarian cooperation across the Organization. This year it is held in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the SCO.

SCO Deputy Secretary-General Piao Yangfan sent a video address to the Forum participants, in which she highly appreciated the achievements of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the economic sphere, as well as the country's efforts to expand the rights and opportunities for women's participation in various spheres of public life. The Deputy Secretary-General also informed about the Organization's contribution to achieving gender equality for building a just society and effectively countering contemporary global challenges. She drew particular attention to the intention of the member states, enshrined in the SCO Development Strategy until 2035, to continue cooperation in the sphere of ensuring the legitimate rights and interests of women, and strengthening their political, economic, and social status.

Participants of the Forum held an exchange of views on ways to strengthen the role of women in science, education, and innovation, mechanisms to support young women scientists, and expanding their participation in academic exchanges and international cooperation.
