TOMS RIVER, NJ - Ocean County has officially launched its America 250 website, marking the start of a countywide initiative to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States and to highlight Ocean County's significant role in the American Revolution.
Led by the Ocean County Cultural and Heritage Commission, the website serves as a central hub for information on historic sites, educational resources, lectures, reenactments, and community events planned throughout the county as the nation approaches its semiquincentennial in 2026. The website also includes historical overviews, maps to Revolutionary War battlegrounds and patriot burials, scouting resources, and information on traveling exhibits such as War at the Shore.
"Ocean County's history is deeply connected to the founding of our nation, and America 250 gives us the opportunity to share that story with residents of all ages," said Commissioner Robert S. Arace, liaison to the Ocean County Cultural and Heritage Division. "This website reflects our long-term commitment to preserving our Revolutionary heritage while making it accessible, engaging, and relevant for today's community."
The launch also begins an official countdown to America's 250th anniversary, building momentum for commemorative programming across Ocean County. The initiative follows a multi-year roadmap that will continue through 2033, aligning with key milestones in local and national Revolutionary War history.
"America 250 connects Ocean County's rich Revolutionary history with opportunities for learning and exploration," said Deputy Director Jennifier Bacchione, liaison to the Ocean County Division of Business Development and Tourism. "Whether you're a student, educator, family, or lifelong learner, the website invites everyone to discover the stories, sites, and experiences that make our county's history come alive."
Residents, educators, and visitors are encouraged to explore the America 250 website for updates, resources, and event listings at
