On May 6, 2025, at approximately 11:20 a.m., officers from the El Cajon Police Department responded to a report of an assault in the 1000 block of Prince Street.
Upon arrival, officers located an adult female victim suffering from multiple stab wounds to one of her arms and her torso. She was provided immediate medical attention and transported to a local hospital for treatment.
The suspect was initially described as an adult female whom the victim did not know. Utilizing a department drone, officers were able to quickly locate the suspect as she fled the area and ran across Interstate 8. The drone operator maintained visual observation of the suspect and directed officers to her location.
As officers attempted to detain the suspect, she fled while being armed with a knife. Officers deployed a Taser, successfully subduing the suspect and taking her into custody. While the suspect was being transported, she assaulted one of the police officers, causing injury.
The suspect was identified as 39-year-old Veronica Flores. She was booked into Las Colinas Women's Detention Facility on multiple felony charges.
