(Leavenworth, Kansas) - The University of Saint Mary has named Dr. Andrew J. Dies as the new Vice President of Student Life. This announcement follows the retirement of Bob Schuchardt.
Dies has 19 years of higher education experience and has demonstrated a commitment to student success through efforts focused on community, wellness, and student engagement. Dies previously served as the assistant vice president of student affairs and dean of students at Stephen F. Austin State University. Other roles include dean of students at Northern Arizona University and dean of students & student affairs campus lead at Georgia Southern University.
Through his professional experience, Dies has impacted student life and wellbeing through leadership over student support functions and oversight of student affairs. In his role at Saint Mary, Dies will be responsible for overseeing non-academic programs such as residence life, student engagement, campus ministry, counseling services, and public safety. His leadership over these programs will be essential to enhancing student engagement and promoting collaboration among various areas of the Saint Mary campus.
"I am both humbled and excited to begin this role at a university that prides itself in forming personal relationships with students," Dies said. "USM supports students from the very moment they step on campus, and I am looking forward to working with them through key moments in their student journey."
