The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) finalized a new mandatory payment model - Ambulatory Specialty Model (ASM) - which will hold specialists accountable for cost, quality, and upstream prevention of selected chronic conditions. The five-year model begins Jan. 1, 2027 for the selected conditions of low-back pain and heart failure.
