No Traffic Controls & Pass Updates
Alpine County - The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will not conduct traffic controls in Alpine County next week.
State Routes 4 & 89
- The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) temporarily closed State Route 89 (Monitor Pass) at the State Route 4/89 Junction, as of 12:00 p.m., on Monday, April 20, 2026, in response to forecasted weather. Our Caltrans Woodfords maintenance crew will evaluate road conditions after the next storm to safely reopen the highway to the traveling public.
- The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has moved the westbound closure of State Route 4 (Ebbetts Pass) back to Raymond Meadows as of 2:00 p.m., Thursday, April 2, 2026. State Route 4 (Ebbetts Pass) remains closed eastbound at Lake Alpine.
Motorists should expect 5-to-10-minute delays and use alternate routes whenever possible. All work is scheduled to occur as listed but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, availability of equipment/materials, and construction-related issues.
