China’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Office at Geneva and Other International Organizations in Switzerland Ambassador Jia Guide Meets with the[...]

On January 7, 2026, H.E. Mr. Jia Guide, Permanent Representative of the People's Republic of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other International Organizations in Switzerland, met with Gilbert F. Houngbo, the Director-General of International Labour Organization. The two sides exchanged views on global labour governance and future cooperation between China and ILO.

Ambassador Jia Guide stated that the current international landscape is undergoing profound changes and multilateralism is facing severe challenges. China's 15th Five-Year Plan proposes ensuring and improving public well-being, promoting high-quality and full employment and common prosperity for all. China stands ready to further strengthen collaboration with the ILO, advancing the implementation of the Global Governance Initiative in field of labor.

DG Houngbo congratulated Ambassador Jia Guide on his new tenure. He commended the strategic vision of China's 15th Five-Year Plan. The ILO would like to collaborate with China to promote decent work and social justice.
