WOODWARD RIVIERA MAYA CELEBRATES ITS GRAND OPENING AT HARD ROCK HOTEL RIVIERA MAYA

MIAMI, Fla. October 23, 2017 - AIC Hotel Group, the brand reinventing the all-inclusive hotel experience, and Woodward, a leader in the youth culture action and lifestyle sports movement, recently hosted the Grand Opening of the new Woodward Riviera Maya at Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya on October 20-22.

The action-packed Grand Opening celebration showcased Woodward Riviera Maya through dynamic hands-on action-sport immersive activities in addition to live demonstrations from professional athletes, all set in the luxurious tropical setting of Hard Rock Hotel Riviera Maya.

The weekend kicked off with an on-property concrete park competition showcasing Mexican skateboarders, which emphasized Woodward Riviera Maya's connection to the surrounding community. A commemorative piñata smash then officially opened Woodward Riviera Maya to the public.

A line-up of professional athletes headlined by award-winning skateboarder Tony Hawk, included several top skateboarders such as Andy MacDonald, Eliot Sloan, and Brighton Zeuner; Brazilian skateboarders Sandro Dias, Felipe Gustavo, and Leticia Butoni; British BMX rider Kriss Kyle; Mexican/American BMX rider Kevin Peraza; and pro freeskier Tom Walish. The athletes utilized their expertise and skill set to demonstrate the facility's range of exciting action-sport offerings from skateboarding and BMX, to Parkour and the much-anticipated indoor dryland snowboarding and skiing. A discussion panel and special signing with professional athletes and Woodward executives was followed by an impressive half-pipe exhibition, the first of its kind to take place at any resort. The exciting evening was topped off with an epic live performance from American pop-punk band, "The Story So Far."

The festivities showcased Woodward's first international location and first place in the world to meld the benefits of an all-inclusive resort stay with lifestyle sports. The facility's variety of programs cater to all skill levels and provide endless opportunities for teambuilding activities. With future plans to expand to Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Punta Cana already in the works, this endeavor sets an entirely new standard of the all-inclusive experience, allowing guests to participate in a variety of program sessions such as skateboarding, BMX, scooter, cheer, dance, tumbling, Parkour and free running, indoor dryland snowboarding and skiing with ParkBoard™ and ParkSki™, which are snowboards and skis with wheels on the bottom, and the Woodward WreckTangle ninja obstacle challenge designed to ignite athleticism, agility and amusement while encouraging guests to strategically move through challenging obstacles such as the "Rope Swing to Cargo Crawl" and "Rotating Rings."

Woodward Riviera Maya also includes a dedicated interactive digital media space where GoPro cameras can be checked out for participants to document their experience. Guests can check out GoPro cameras for up to 48 hours, then return with their footage to curate the content and create edits of their experiences and adventures at the resort. With experts on site to advise and facilitate, the GoPro Lab helps guests capture and create the memorable moments from their stay so they can relive them for a lifetime.

The digital media program also encompasses Hard Rock's signature Music Lab, which is divided into three unique classes - Jam Band, Spin Session and RockTube - incorporating the brand's distinct musical namesake into the Woodward experience.
