Additional Aircraft Enhances Emergency Service Ecosystem
FORT MOHAVE, AZ - Feb. 19, 2026 - In order to provide greater access to emergency air medical care without the need for a pre-paid membership, Air Methods, the nation's leading air medical service provider, opened an additional base in Fort Mohave-TriState CareFlight 11. The new base further strengthens the TriState CareFlight program's robust critical care ecosystem along the Colorado River. With nine strategically located bases - Yuma, Quartzsite, Parker (2), Lake Havasu, Fort Mohave (2), Bullhead, and Kingman - TriState CareFlight delivers hospital-level care directly to patients wherever they are. The Fort Mohave expansion increases aircraft availability in the region and enhances response times during emergencies.
"As a hospital partner, Valley View is committed to ensuring our patients have seamless access to advanced healthcare and is proud to partner with TriState CareFlight to expand critical care access for our communities," said Venus Lee, Valley View market director of marketing and communications. "Having an additional aircraft based in Fort Mohave strengthens the region's emergency response network and ensures our patients receive advanced, lifesaving care as quickly as possible."
As a long-standing emergency air medical provider, TriState CareFlight helicopters function as flying intensive care units, equipped with advanced technology and medications to treat the most critically ill and injured patients. CareFlight flight nurses and paramedics undergo extensive, ongoing training in trauma, cardiac and stroke care, respiratory emergencies, and high-risk obstetrics. Teams are certified to carry and administer blood on every transport, allowing lifesaving transfusions to begin immediately. CareFlight is the only air medical provider along the River that carries this lifesaving resource. This resource has been proven to significantly improve survival for trauma patients.
"CareFlight maintains accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS), reflecting the highest standards of medical transport and care," said Bejarano. "With this new base, or any air medical provider for that matter, air medical memberships are not required, so patients don't need to worry about who is coming to help because they won't get a surprise bill."
The Federal No Surprises Act protects patients with private health insurance from unexpected out-of-network air ambulance bills. Patients are only responsible for their in-network copay, coinsurance, or deductible. Similar protections apply if patients have Medicare Part B or Medicaid. The responsibility is limited to an individual's program's standard cost-sharing. Providers cannot bill beyond those limits, making memberships not required. Air Methods is dedicated to serving patients across the state with both the best in clinical quality during transport and first-rate patient advocacy once the transport is complete.
"We meet people on some of the hardest days of their lives, and our support doesn't end when the flight does. We work with all patients, regardless of their insurance situation," said Bejarano. "Our goal is to ensure patients focus on healing, not on a bill."
