BNC Service Disruption and D. Kan. Bankr. General Order 26-1

Wednesday, October 14, 2026

The Bankruptcy Noticing Center (BNC) is experiencing a national disruption. During this disruption, the Court will continue to accept filings, open cases, and process documents according to standard procedures. However, there may be a delay in the entry and service of notices and orders from the Court as well as the service of 341 Notices until this matter is resolved.

General Order 26-1: To address these delays, the court issued General Order 26-1, which allows parties to request extensions to deadlines or continuances that are attributable to the noticing delays. A copy of the order is attached and will be posted to the court's website at www.ksb.uscourts.gov/local-rules. Please note that certain deadlines cannot be extended by order of this court and parties should be vigilant and comply with such deadlines. See, e.g., Fed. R. Bankr. P. 9006(b)(2).

Workaround for the Mailing Matrix: The BNC disruption is also affecting its websites and other resources, including CM/ECF users' access to the mailing matrix. Until resolved, CM/ECF users seeking to serve pleadings and delegated notices/orders may access the list of creditors and addresses within a case through the following process:

Accessing the List of Creditors:

  1. Select "Query" from the top menu in CM/ECF.
  2. Input the case number and select the "Run Query" button.
  3. Select the "Creditor" link.
  4. The next screen will ask what Creditor type that you are searching. You may leave the "Creditor type" selection blank and select "Run Query" to list all creditors.
  5. The next screen will display the list of the creditors and addresses to assist with service.

Please note that the list of creditors does not include all interested parties to a case, such as the debtor(s), trustees, or the U.S. Trustee. Therefore, parties and counsel should review service requirements to ensure that notice is provided to all appropriate parties, including those not listed on CM/ECF's list of creditors.

The outage does not affect the electronic delivery of Notices of Electronic Filing (NEFs), which continue to be generated and distributed normally through CM/ECF.
