(July 30, 2026) - Beginning Saturday, Aug. 1 through September 10, SE Division Street between César E Chávez Boulevard and 50th Avenue will have closures for repairs and repaving. The schedule for corner ramp work at SE 50th Avenue and Division Street has changed, but the remainder of the schedule remains the same. A full schedule is posted on the project webpage. Please check frequently for updates.

The work will begin with a full closure of SE Division Street, 24 hours a day, Saturday Aug. 1 through Monday, Aug. 3, from SE César E Chávez Boulevard to 41st Avenue and will be followed with a full closure of SE Division Street from 48th to 50th avenues on Aug. 3.

From Aug. 4 -13, crews will repave the street between SE 41st and 48th avenues, starting with the north side and then the south side. That work will allow one lane open, one direction, at all times.

Parking will be restricted in areas while they are under construction, and access to side streets and crosswalks will be temporarily closed.

Beginning in late August, crews will reconstruct the intersection at SE Division Street and 50th Avenue. Construction will require periods of both partial and full closures-of both SE Division Street and 50th Avenue. Reconstruction of the intersection will last approximately 2 to 3 weeks.

SE 50th Avenue will be fully closed, 24 hours a day, for several days starting Aug. 17 during work on the north side of SE Division Street in the intersection. Travelers on that street are asked to use SE César E Chávez Boulevard as an alternate route.

After repaving, crews will move back through the corridor to install signing and striping.

Businesses will remain open during the project. Nearly all the corridor will have sidewalks open and accessible, except for times when the corner at SE 50th Avenue will be rebuilt.

TriMet will reroute FX2 eastbound and westbound bus service via SE Hawthorne Blvd between SE César E Chávez Blvd and 50th Avenue from Saturday, Aug.1 through Monday, Aug. 3 and FX2 westbound bus service via SE Hawthorne Blvd from Tuesday, Aug. 4 through Monday, Aug. 10. Check TriMet.org for details on bus service impacts later in August.

The schedule is weather dependent and subject to change.

Travelers are advised to expect delays. Obey road closure barricades and follow directions from traffic signs and flaggers.

Regional travelers passing through the area should use SE Powell Boulevard or SE Hawthorne Boulevard as alternate routes.

Please continue to support local businesses during construction.

This project is made possible by $4.7 million from the City of Portland General Fund.
