The DAISY Award is an international recognition program that honors nurses who go above and beyond in providing compassionate, exceptional patient care. Nurses may be nominated by patients, families, and fellow employees, with recipients selected by a committee.
Two nurses were nominated during this award cycle: Katie Rau and Hannah Jones. Both nominees were recognized during the award ceremony and presented with DAISY nomination certificates in appreciation of their commitment to providing outstanding care.

Hannah Jones was nominated by the family of a patient who shared the impact she has made in their lives, writing:
"She has done so much for our family. She has worked us in to see the doctor when their schedule was full. She has set up appointments with out-of-the-area doctors if need be. She has a heart of gold and has a smile that makes a person's day when you are sick. She is a wonderful caring nurse."
Katie has been a member of the MRH&C team for five years and currently serves as Director of Outpatient Services and the Infusion Center. During her first year in this leadership role, she has demonstrated exceptional dedication to her patients, coworkers, and department. Her positive attitude, attention to detail, and collaborative leadership have helped strengthen patient care while supporting the continued growth of outpatient services.
Katie's winning nomination highlighted the compassion, optimism, and exceptional care she provides to her patients. One patient shared:
"She is one of the happiest, most positive people that I know... She is so helpful and always checks in on me. I am so grateful for Katie and the expertise, hard work, and pure joy she brings to the department."
During the award presentation, Chief Nursing Officer Carol Stewart recognized Katie's leadership, professionalism, and commitment to those around her.
"For her years of dedication, her leadership, her willingness to help wherever needed, and her compassionate care, it is my honor to present the DAISY Award to an incredible nurse and teammate," Stewart said.
MRH&C congratulates Katie on this well-deserved recognition and extends its appreciation to both Katie and Hannah for the compassionate, high-quality care they provide every day. Their nominations reflect the extraordinary difference MRH&C nurses make in the lives of patients and families throughout our community.
Patients, families, and staff are encouraged to recognize extraordinary nursing care by submitting a DAISY Award nomination. Nomination forms are available at registration desks throughout MRH&C facilities, and nominations may also be submitted online through the DAISY Foundation website.
