With one week in India already under their belts, ReMA President Robin Wiener, ReMA Chair Colin Kelly, ReMA Chair-Elect Andy Golding, and Adam Shaffer, ReMA's Vice President of International Trade and Global Affairs were more than ready to head to the International Material Recycling Conference (IMRC) in Jaipur.
Over the last decade, the Material Recycling Association of India (MRAI) has organized IMRC in various cities in India, and three International Business Summits (IBS) in Bangkok, Thailand & Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The year, IMRC is being held at the Novotel Jaipur & Convention Centre, in Jaipur, India, from Tuesday, January 20 to Thursday, January 22, 2026.
"India is now the fourth largest economy in the world, and the fastest growing," Wiener said. "Its infrastructure and manufacturing base are rapidly expanding, with demand for recycled materials growing commensurate with the growth of its economy. Innovation, technology, policies, supply chain disruptions, and market demand are all changing fast and that's why Colin and I are here, along with Andy and Adam."
The conference focuses on bringing Indian and international recyclers under one roof for networking and showcasing their business interest, products, technologies, services, new innovations, perspectives, etc.
On the first day of the conference, Wiener participated on the panel "Women in Recycling: Catalysts of Change," along with a group of future women leaders within the Indian recycled materials industry. This group included Nainika Chadha, Operations Head, VK METCAST PVT LTD, Karvi Agrawal, Assistant Manager - Operations, Gravita Lindia Limited, Vedsi Arya, Director at Utkarsh TMT Group, Aanya Gupta, Global Strategy & Business Development, PGI GROUP, Hemal Gandhi, Executive Director, GRP Ltd, Juveria Bhavnagarwala, Founder of Oilenza Trading L.L.C. (Dubai), and Kajal Singh, Senior Director at MRAI.
"Susie Burrage, OBE, President of the Bureau of International Recycling, Bineesha Payattati, Consultant - Circular Economy at MRAI, and I provided the perspective of the industry veteran," Wiener noted. "I can say with confidence that our future is more than secure with these women up and coming in the industry."
On Wednesday, Wiener and Kelly participated in the panel "Polices Affecting the Recycling Industry" led by Amar Singh, Secretary General, MRAI, and alongside Sanjay Mehta, president MTC Group and MRAI, Burrage, and Mir Mujtaba Hussain, President Bureau of Middle East Recycling. During the session, the group discussed the pressures faced around the world on the global trade of recycled materials and the industry's resilience in the face of uncertainty, tariffs, threats of export controls and export restrictions, and other forms of market disruption.
Thursday will include sessions on a variety of topics including electronics recycling, end-of-life vehicles recycling, plastics recycling, tire recycling, and roundtables on textile recycling and construction and demolition recycling.
