On 25 September 2025, Thailand, in its role as the ASEAN Coordinator on Sustainable Development, organized a side event "Charting Future Pathway to Sustainable Development in ASEAN" during the UNGA80 High-level Week at the Permanent Mission of Thailand to the United Nations in New York. The event soft-launched the report "Complementarities between the ASEAN Community Vision 2045 and the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, or Complementarities Initiative (CI) 2.0", an initiative proposed by Thailand.

This side event, organized by Thailand for the fourth year, aimed to reaffirm Thailand and ASEAN's continued commitment to promoting sustainable development, to provide a platform for the exchange of views among participants from various sectors, including ASEAN Member States and external partners, UN agencies, academia, youth and civil society, and to enhance Thailand's visibility in advancing and achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in ASEAN in a tangible and concrete manner.
