WHAT:

Hundreds of PTA leaders and child advocates from across the country will converge on Capitol Hill March 2-4 for the 2026 National PTA Legislative Conference. Attendees will meet with members of Congress, Tuesday, March 3, to advocate for public schools, immigrant families and policies that protect children's health, safety and well-being. PTA advocates will also gather on the Senate steps to demand that schools and community safe spaces remain accessible to all children and families-regardless of immigration status.

Among the issues, PTA advocates will be urging Congress to:

  • Invest in programs that support children, families and public schools;
  • Protect immigrant children and families by passing the Protecting Sensitive Locations Act;
  • Restore funding for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP); and
  • Protect schools from violence by funding the STOP School Violence Program and opposing concealed firearms within protected school zones.

Attendees will hear from expert speakers and participate in skill-building workshops on issues impacting children, families and schools. Scheduled speakers:

  • Nicole Hockley, co-founder and CEO of Sandy Hook Promise

  • Dr. Ann-Louise Lockhart, pediatric psychologist and parent coach

National PTA will also honor the recipients of its 2026 Outstanding Advocacy Awards.
