On Thursday, January 22, Our Lady of the Lake University celebrated an important milestone in supporting our students, successfully reaching the $2 million fundraising goal for the Sisters of Divine Providence Scholarship Fund approximately five months ahead of schedule. Members of the OLLU community, including University President Dr. Abel Chávez, students, faculty, and staff, gathered to recognize the shared effort and generosity from donors, alumni, and the University team who made this huge milestone possible.
The campaign, launched in June 2025, provides financial support for students with demonstrated need. Reaching the $2 million goal should allow at least 150 students to attend OLLU.
"Reaching this very important $2 million milestone tells me and it shows me, it is a confirmation that we are on the right path," OLLU President Dr. Chávez said.
Now, University leadership has announced a new challenge to build on this momentum.
Looking towards the 2026-2027 school year, the University is excited to kick-off a new community matching challenge, inviting supporters to help double the original goal by the end of the fiscal year in May. If successful, this expanded effort would allow scholarship support to reach approximately 300 students, further extending opportunities for current and future Saints.
One student-athlete, 19-year-old Katherine Delgadillo, a senior in OLLU's kinesiology program, spoke at the event regarding her experience with the Sisters of Divine Providence Scholarship Fund: "This scholarship was not just financial support. It was a key. One that unlocked education, mentorship, community, faith, and purpose… your support places keys into students' hands, keys that unlock opportunity, purpose, and hope"
With hope, this event highlights the coming together of the entire OLLU community, and sets forth a continued commitment to supporting students as they grow professionally, personally, and in faith.
For those who have already donated, we thank you for your contributions. If you have not yet donated or are up to the challenge of doubling our goal, we invite you to show your support, unlocking lasting education opportunities for the next generation of Saints. Thank you to every member of the OLLU community for making this possible!
