Chinese Consul General in Calgary Zhao Liying Meets with Mayor Andrew Knack of Edmonton

Consul General Mme. Zhao Liying met with Mr. Andrew Knack, Mayor of Edmonton on March 26, 2026. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening bilateral engagement and expanding practical cooperation. Vice Consul General Mr. Liang Lin and others were present.

Mme. Zhao highlighted China's latest economic achievements and underscored the significant opportunities that the 15th Five-Year Plan presents for China-Canada subnational cooperation. She expressed China's willingness to work with the City of Edmonton to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, enhance mutually beneficial cooperation in areas such as trade, energy, tourism, education, and the ice and snow economy, and further deepen sister-city exchanges.

Mayor Knack fondly recalled his visit to Harbin earlier this year, spoke highly of China's development achievements, and expressed his expectation to further strengthen sister-city ties and expand practical cooperation across a broad range of sectors.
