King Harbor Breakwall Repair Update

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has notified the City of Redondo Beach that repair work on the King Harbor Breakwall is scheduled to begin on June 22, 2026.

Construction activities will occur at various locations along the breakwall and will require a barge to relocate periodically throughout the project. The contractor anticipates approximately five days of work adjacent to the King Harbor Yacht Club docks, followed by two to three weeks of crane operations from Mole A. For safety reasons, visitors are encouraged to avoid the breakwall during active construction, and boaters are asked to maintain a safe distance from construction equipment and vessels.

A construction staging area will also be established on Mole B. The Army Corps has indicated that every effort will be made to keep Moonstone Park accessible and allow the Lanakila Outrigger Club to continue operating throughout the project. However, parking availability on Mole B may be reduced, as parking spaces adjacent to Moonstone Park are expected to be utilized for construction staging and support activities. To minimize impacts on harbor operations and community events, the City and local harbor stakeholders have coordinated with the Army Corps to share upcoming event schedules.

No construction work is anticipated between July 3 and July 5 to accommodate Independence Day weekend activities and the annual fireworks display.

The breakwall repair project is currently expected to be completed in September 2026.
