The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is warning consumers to stop using 4 in 1 Plug in Natural Gas and Carbon Monoxide Detectors Model KH158 immediately because the detectors can fail to alert consumers to the presence of hazardous carbon monoxide.
The manufacturer, Shenzhen Kanghua Shengshi Industrial Co., LTD dba KH Alert of China, has not agreed to recall these detectors.
CPSC urges consumers not to purchase or sell these carbon monoxide detectors. Stop using and dispose of these products immediately, and install new, working carbon monoxide detectors. Report a dangerous product or a product-related injury on www.SaferProducts.gov.
Note: Consumers should install carbon monoxide detectors on each level of their home and outside separate sleeping areas. Carbon monoxide detectors should be battery operated or have battery backup. Test carbon monoxide detectors frequently and replace batteries as needed. Consumers should only buy carbon monoxide detectors that meet the UL 2034 safety standard.
The subject products are electronic combination natural gas and carbon monoxide (CO) detectors. The detectors are made of white, gray, or black plastic and feature a digital display. There is a button with the words "SELF-TEST" on the front of the detectors. To the left of the "SELF-TEST" button are three indicator lights, one green with "POWER" printed below, one yellow with "FAULT" printed below, and one red with "ALARM" printed below.
Report any incidents involving injury or product defect to CPSC at www.SaferProducts.gov.
CPSC is aware of 91 reports of the detectors failing to alarm in the presence of gas and/or carbon monoxide leaks.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is charged with protecting the public from unreasonable risk of injury associated with the use of thousands of types of consumer products. Deaths, injuries, and property damage from consumer product-related incidents cost the nation more than $1 trillion annually. Since the CPSC was established more than 50 years ago, it has worked to ensure the safety of consumer products, which has contributed to a decline in injuries associated with these products.
Federal law prohibits any person from selling products subject to a Commission ordered recall or a voluntary recall undertaken in consultation with the CPSC.
